One of my most favorite hobbies is crochet and in my spare time I make scarves, hats and even plush toys. Following the release of Despicable Me 2 I decided to crochet a Minion of my own called Stuart. After I had created the Minion I received questions as too if I was planning on selling it.
This made me think of how I would package it. First I developed my own packaging template on how it would fold into the final product. Second and my biggest goal of the project I wanted to have my handmade minion’s eye poking through the box. I accomplished this by measuring where the eye would be in the box and cutting a hole.
Lastly I wanted to incorporate the word “Papoi” which is the minion word for “toy”. I felt this would be an important piece for a toybox. Illustrating a Minion and making it appear I felt made a bigger connection to movie and toybox.
I used the theme colors from the movie such as yellow, orange and blue for the color palette. Lastly I illustrated multiple versions of the Minions to show people what else I could make. The toybox stand at “8×13 inches”.
