I’ve always had a fascination with kinetic typographies. So when I was asked to developing a kinetic typography I was more than happy to get started. The audio I chose to use was the song “What Would Brian Boitano Do?” played by GWAR and. The song was originally written by Trey Parker & Matt Stone the creators of South Park who first used this song in their movie South Park, Bigger, Longer & Uncut.
For this animation I used Adobe After Effects and I wanted to focus on a couple of key things. My first priority was finding a rough font to coincide with the metal music theme of the song. Second was to have the words actually resemble descriptions in the song. Due to “What Would Brian Boitano Do?” being so descriptive in it’s lyrics I made the words in the typography look like what it was saying. For example in the line “When Brian Boitano was in the Alps” I reorganized the words to look similar to a mountain landscape.
